Gary has landed a lead role performing on a revamp of the celebrated album of musical, War Of The Worlds.

Barlow is taking on two of the most famous songs from Jeff Wayne's 1978 production, Forever Autumn and The Eve Of The War, both of which were originally sung by Moody Blues singer Justin Hayward.

Gary tweeted how honoured he's to be a guest on the record: "I've always loved this album and I'm the biggest fan of its creator Jeff Wayne."

Other musicians who are involved with the album revamp include Joss Stone, Maverick Sabre, and Ricky Wilson (from the Kaiser Chiefs), who is also appearing in a stage version of the musical.

The album will be released on November 12th.
