Progress Live 2011 Begins...

Take That kicked-off their Progress Live 2011 tour last night at Sunderland's Stadium of Light in spectacular fashion. The awesome live show celebrated their biggest hits from the last two decades, saw Robbie take to the stage to perform songs from his incredible chart-topping solo career and revealed an amazing set which includes a fully operational 20 metre tall man the band have nicknamed 'OM'.

Gary, Howard, Jason and Mark Owen took to the stage at 8.30pm to start the show with their biggest hit to date 'Rule The World'. They then delivered four more of their biggest songs as a four piece including: 'Greatest Day' (including a huge yellow confetti canon blast), 'Hold Up A Light', 'Patience' and 'Shine' (which saw the band joined onstage by an Alice in Wonderland style dancing cast of dancing trees, roller-skating bees and huge caterpillar).

Next four became five, as Take That briefly united onstage 'virtually' through a huge video screen to sing their own version of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band; creating the bridge between the first two parts of the show.

Robbie then kicked off his solo set with a stadium thumping 'Let Me Entertain You' which had the crowd jumping off their feet. His set proceeded through his own classics: 'Rock DJ' (where he climbed into a glass chariot to be pulled around the stage by dancers in roller-skates), 'Come Undone', 'Feel' (which saw him winched out to the audience) and of course finishing with the amazing 'Angels'.

Before the five are reunited properly onstage a group of ominous looking Shaolin monks adorned in red cloaks swinging lanterns walk from the B-stage to the main stage to introduce their arrival. Take That then sing the song that marked their historic return; 'The Flood'. For this the dancers performed an amazing routine taking place on a wall of water while the band sang from the highest part of the stage.

Robbie threw himself off the top for the finale of 'The Flood' to the floor via suspension cables before the band break into an explosive version of 'SOS' from their record breaking album 'Progress'. This is the point where the audience are first introduced to a huge mechanical man who is revealed from behind the stage and slides out in a sitting position for the guys to sing 'Underground Machine' (again from 'Progress') to rapturous cheers from the audience.

The band then move to the B stage to perform 'Kidz' where they start an old skool dance-off involving Jason and Howard, flanked by human chess pieces dressed in black and white. 'Pretty Things' is performed back on the main stage with Gary and Robbie being lifted up by OM's hands as a beautiful ballet dancer flits between the two stages.

Next the band share a few laughs with each other and the audience about old times before gathering around a piano for a medley of 'Million Love Songs', 'Babe', 'Everything Changes', 'Back For Good' and 'Pray' the final song for which they get up and do the original dance routine while the crowd go crazy.

Gary, Howard, Jason, Mark and Robbie then begin what has to be one of the high points of the show: new XMen single 'Love, Love' featuring twenty dancers in gas masks flanking the band on either side of the main stage, while the mechanical man moves out into the middle of the stadium (carrying the band), with an awesome futuristic landscape on the VT behind which takes up the entire back wall.

As the show draws near to its finale the band break into 'Never Forget' as OM reveals his full height (20 metres) and the band then finish with 'No Regrets', a fiery performance of 'Relight My Fire' (with Robbie singing Lulu's part) closing the show with Gary leading on the beautiful 'Eight Letters' (also the final track on 'Progress').

All of them are gorgeous. Give em a break. Take That - great, Take That plus Robbie - bonus! Simple. Love that arrogant man! Thought it was all perfect but would've liked to hear Happy Now - was in the thick of it at Wembley, dancing away and it would've added to it. Amazing technical stuff, not just a gig but a complete 'Show'. Gary is just gorgeous (my favourite), want to hug him, can't wait to see him on the X Factor. Felt proud to be British, so glad they did the patriotism stuff - loved it. Been a fan since 1992 - OMG!!! You boys are doing good, keep up the good work xxx

always wanted to see take that since my teens and finally managed to get tickets this year for Tuesday 5th . i was so excited and thought the first part was amazing. but then robbie came on. OMG! i was disgusted at his foul language and rude gestures. i'm so glad i didn't take my 9 year old son cause i would have had to take him out. there was just no need for it and it just didn't fit in to the rest of the show. people around me used the chance to go to the toilet and get food while he was on. on the up side though, when the 5 did reunite the concert got much better and Robbie did calm it down again. also i must admitted that take that fans are great and i met some lovely people while queuing outside, queuing for the loo and sitting near us. i did find the price for merchandise a bit steep. i didn't mind paying 20 pounds for the programme as thats what they are these days, but 10 pound for a keyring was a rip off. i did buy it though cause i've got one for every concert and show i've been to so far this year all costing about 3-5 pounds. i've got quite a collection now on my bag lol and i couldn't not have a TT one in my collection. i would have liked to have seen scarfs and proper baseball caps. well done gary, mark, jason and howard for a fab show, best night of my life and was a dream come true x

Right, okay, I might upset some people here, but I thought the 4 piece/RW/5 piece was a stroke of inspiration, it gave everyone little bits of what they wanted and it was nice to see some of the real full-on Robbie songs getting the crowd up and jumping. I was impressed with Robbie, not being a fanboy or anything, I had been concerned that his vocals wouldn't hold up, but I think they did in the end.

Overall, there was a good balance of tracks, BUT....... I went on Monday 4th July and 2 things disappointed me slightly (apart from the shockingly bad view I had even though my tickets were £100 each, not from touts, just bad view and misleading info and with no warning of restricted view from ticketmaster) Anyway, I was really peeved that OM didn't stand up like I thought he/it was meant to and the most shocking of all.... WHAT HAPPENED TO "HAPPY NOW"!!! I love that song :(

Anyway, great job, all 5 of you, this was my first time seeing TT and I would go again, the atmosphere was incredible!!

Right, I'm off to see who I can sponge some Foo Fighters from lol.

Great show last night at Wembley with Take That as a 4 or 5 piece. Gary, Howard, Jason and Mark you were magnificent! Only downer was Mr Williams self indulgent extended freestyle antics/ramblings and quite offensive comments thrown 'tongue in cheek' at fans, it was really misjudged

Went to Wembley last night and it was brill overall. I looked forward to all of it, including Robbie's solos BUT did not understand why he was snarling abuse at the crowd and looking like he hated the whole thing at the start. I don't care about swearing usually (i'm an expert myself) but there were some quite young kids there and we felt it spoiled his 'slot'. If we wanted to get abused for standing watching someone do their thing, we could go to Hastings seafront and stare at some alky bloke there for free instead of travelling all that way....even the robot showed its protest by staying seated at the end!
A shame as the rest of the show was great, especially the tracks from Progress - SOS was bangin'. Great job Gary, Howard, Jason & Mark - you deserve your success.

Went last night to Wembley. Show was fantastic (the parts I could see) especially water wall when they all performed 'Flood'. Robbie was his usual cocky but brilliant self and Gary looked even more gorgeous! I was pitch standing about 6 rows back from front so had a brilliant view of the main stage. However, I didnt enjoy it as much as CIrcus tour as I, and sure many people, only saw half of the show because of the lack of a middle screen! When the band were on the stage in the middle of the pitch, people front standing could not see them nor the side screens as these were obscured by equipment. Its great that there are two stages so everyone gets a chance to see them closer but need to be able to see whats happening all of the time-lack of middle screen made this impossible and I was left feeling somewhat disappointed after paying so much for the ticket.

Really enjoyed the show in Sunderland on opening night and was on a high for my holidays the day after.
Being from Scotland we could not get tickets for Glasgow but the Sunderland folk know how to party and that we did to a great night of laughs, music and dance.
What next ? how can they beat it well I am sure they will fly in next time !!!!
Fab show boys and thanks Sunderland.

Thought I should share this email

Hope you enjoyed the show at the Millennium in Cardiff.. Wasn't the show amazing? More then once we asked ourselves, Could It Be Magic how Everything Changes on the stage. The smiling faces on The Flood of fans leaving the venue Said It All.

We will Never Forget the Million Love Songs and had The Greatest Day, for Sure but now we are home and Back For Good. We thought we would be Up All Night as a bulb had blown in the house when we got home but It Only Takes A Minute to change it so now we can Hold Up A Light and see a Beautiful World.

Tomorrow I plan to Relight My Fire and Pray the sun will Shine so we can play Patience in the Garden and then watch Babe on the television.

I think I've probably Said It All (again) but if I could Rule The World this is a show I would definitely see again!

Love from Julie (I bet you're asking yourself How Did It Come To This?)

I went to Cardiff Millenium last night (14/6) and was already really excited for the mix of the fab 4, Rob then the fab 5! They started as a 5 piece, there was a fight between the boys, and now they've reunited and it was genius! I don't know about all the other TT fans but I have loved them from the days of Take That and Party right to the present day and loved Rob with them as well as, as a solo artist - I've nothing against him at all and I think it's FAB that he's been reunited with them, something they all obviously want so don't get why Rob's being made out to be the bad guy. I didn't think he dominated the concert at all - I remember when people complained that Gary dominated too much! Last night I felt they all had their unique part to play inc the dance off with Jas and Howard. Top concert boys absolutely thrilled to have been there! Well done boys - Da Iawn! :D (Also we Welshies immensley enjoyed belting out the Welsh National Anthem as requested by Mark :D )

Went to Manchester on 11th. Loved the start with the 4. Why on earth was Robbie allowed to do what he did? I bought tickets to see Take That not Robbie Williams. He completely dominated everything. His language was foul. His ego is growing daily and even when it was not his turn in the limelight he still had to butt in and talk over the others. Howard hardly got a look in. I will have to think seriously about the next tour if he is still around. On the up though the new tracks are fantastic, much more of the Take That we all know and love

Went to see the show on the last night at Manchester and it was absolutely outstanding from start to finish! I am sick of hearing people complaining about Robbie being back, I have waited 15 years to see them as a 5, and the combination of them as a 4, Robbie solo, and then as a 5 was brilliant! It was not the RW show, it was TT! If people don't want to see Robbie, then why go??? There are hundreds of people who would have loved the opportunity to get tickets and see the show, so I think those of us that got tickets should be grateful we got to see it.

I know everyone is entitled to their opinion, I wanted to see them as a 5 again, which was why I didn't go to the Circus tour.

For anyone who has yet to go, you are in for a real treat, I wish I could go again. And though I'm not a Pet Shop Boys fan, I thought they were fantastic too.

I went to the show last night 11/06..... It was lovely to see TT but I felt RW had far too much prominence, I felt it should have been the 5 of them together or just the 4. The Circus tour was amazing, although good this one didnt have the WOW factor for me.

Take That were amazing last night in Manchester and DO NOT need RW. It seemed to me that the show revolved around RW. The boys came on as a 4 piece which goes to prove that RW did not need to be there. Then RW came out and basically took over the show with abusive language and disgusting song lyrics....sorry RW but it was a family show...many young children were in the stadium and your offensive language and movements were out of order. It felt like "the RW show" which is very sad. When Take That came back on, it seemed that RW was still centre of attention..what happened to you Mark, Howard and Jason...is RW pushing you all out once again..its like history repeating itself. A well staged performance but not as AMAZING as THE CIRCUS TOUR....that was just out of ths world. LOVE YOU GARY, MARK, HOWARD AND JASON. XXXX

I saw Robbie at Knebworth and was blown away, (incidentally Mark was with him the evening I went joining in with a spoof of back for good!!) I thought this was the best night of my life, then I saw the Circus live in Manchester and thought THAT night was magic. I never dreamt I would get the best of both worlds!!!! I gather that I am one of millions who feel this way because Progress album hit sales history with copies flying out of the shops within seconds of sale. The tour sold out the day tickets went on sale, everyone knew that both were a five piece - everyone wanted to see ALL the boys.

Another thing, Robbie, Gary, Mark, Howard and Jason were involved in the original split, only they truly know what happened, and I am sure there was good and bad on both sides. They are big enough to make up and resolve their problems, why are fans still fighting the battle on their behalf??? Let us have No Regrets and Pray for a long future of wonderful music

Take That were fantastic as ever last night ! 5 songs as a 4 piece, 5 songs from Robbie, then loads as a five piece. Its only fair that Take That show how good they were without Rob, and then how good he was without them....and how good they are together again!
Well worth getting a soaking for :-)

I've followed Take That for years and first saw them in 1992 in Scarborough when it was just them on stage. They've come a long way and for the better! I've still got every poster i took down from my wall and ceiling and a few that i couldn't fit on lol!

My only critisism of the tour was the cost of merchandise. I'm the first person to get my money out for momento's but I think £20 for a programme and £40 - £60 for a hoodie is just over the top. Come on lads - people have paid at least £60 a ticket in a time of recession. Each night will be raking in at least 3.5m from ticket sales alone based on last night's attendance. Surely the buzz from performing for your thousands of loyal fans could justify a slight reduction? xx

    Love as always xx
